CAVE JUNCTION — Lost River pulled away from Illinois Valley in the second half Friday for a 29-7 Southern Cascade League victory, a win which allowed the Raiders to secure second place in the league and berth in the Class 2A state playoffs.

Lost River, which finished the season ranked No. 11, secured second place when 12th-rated Lakeview eked out a 21-20 victory over 13th-rated Glide.

Aiden McAuliffe’s 10-yard run in the first period had given Lost River the lead, but the Cougars, who finished SCL play 0-4, knotted the score before halftime. In the second half, Nolan Britton and Jayce Fenner both scored on short runs to give the Raiders the lead.

Fenner added a fourth-period score to help seal the win in a game in which the Raiders held a 364-170 edge in total offense.

Baler Mann paced the Raider defense with eight tackles,while Fenner added six as Lost River completed league play 3-1.

The Raiders, 5-3 on the season, will learn their postseason opponent sometime today since the Class 2A rankings were not scheduled to be frozen for the playoffs until late Saturday night.

Riddle 42, Triad 14

RIDDLE — With its 42-14 win over Triad Friday, Riddle earned a berth in the Class 1A state football playoffs. The Irish will face its second Klamath Falls opponent when they play at Hosanna Christian next Friday.

The game time still has to be established.

Chiloquin 40, Butte Falls 22

BUTTE FALLS — Randall Canfield scored three different ways Friday, turned in 349 all-purpose yards and Chiloquin wrapped up its football season with a 40-22 victory at Butte Falls.

Canfield returned a punt 78 yards for a touchdown, caught six passes for 120 yards and a touchdown, rushed 11 times for 80 yards and a touchdown, had a kickoff return for 43 yards and returned an interception 28 yards.

Den Herrera was 16-of-23 passing for 232 yards and two touchdowns, the second going to Steven Boughton. Herrera also rushed for a score, as did Daniel Jones.

Jones led Chiloquin with 17 tackles, Jayden Riddle had 11 and a fumble recovery, Canfield 10 tackles, and Jaden Hamilton, Scott Gilcrist and Herrera six tackles each. Gilcrist recovered two fumbles, and Jacob Wimmer one.
