OIT's Abby Kreiser

The Oregon Tech women’s basketball team was voted by coaches to finish fourth in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, the preseason poll released on Tuesday showed.

Bushnell University, which won the CCC’s 2021 Spring Championship, was picked to win the conference, garnering 10 first-place votes. Eastern Oregon University was voted second, while Lewis-Clark State was picked for third.

“The conference is going to be extremely competitive this season,” said OIT head coach Scott Meredith in a news release. “I think there are 6 or 7 teams that could challenge for a championship at the end. However, we really like our team this season and plan on being there.”{/span}

Tech returns four starters from their 6-4, pandemic-altered spring campaign, including senior guard Abby Kreiser — an all-conference selection who averaged 11 points per game — and junior guard Kristin Farrell who averaged 10.7 points per game.

The Owls open the year on Oct. 29 and 30 with two games in the William Jessup-hosted Bill Holtz Warrior Classic in Rocklin, Calif. Their first home game is Nov. 8 when Tech hosts Linfield University at Danny Miles Court.
