Oregon Tech will host a statewide invention competition, InventOR Collegiate Challenge, at the end of this month, according to a news release.

The competition, set for 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 29 at the Oregon Tech College Union, is open to educators and all interested parties in the Klamath Falls community.

The InventOR Collegiate Challenge is a day-long exhibition and pitch competition in which 11 Oregon college teams compete for $25,000 in prizes to fund their innovative ideas. The 21 student teams, who have already won their local competitions, will present their inventions and concepts for the chance to take home cash prizes. Projects showcase solutions to important social and economic challenges across the state, including pressing community needs experienced in Oregon’s urban and rural regions.

Competition pitches begin at 10 a.m. in the College Union, with the final awards presented at 4 p.m. Before and after the pitch competition, teams will exhibit their inventions with activities and presentations showcased throughout the College Union during the day.

This year’s InventOR competition will include student teams from 11 public and private colleges and universities from across the state including: Clackamas Community College, Eastern Oregon University, George Fox University, Oregon State University, Oregon Institute of Technology, Portland Community College, Portland State University, Rogue Valley Community College, University of Oregon, University of Portland and Warner Pacific University.

The public is invited to participate. Registration is requested, but not required at https://bit.ly/2MnzWw3. For more information, contact Hallie.neupert@oit.edu or Christina Williams for InventOR at cdw2@pdx.edu or 503-539-3619.
