Bike lane project to affect traffic today

As part of the 2018 Microsurfacing/Oregon Avenue Protected Bike Lane Project, striping operations will take place today on the following roadways: Oregon Avenue, Pine Street, Biehn Street, 9th and 11th streets, according to a news release.

There will be no on-street parking on these streets so that this work can be completed.

Veterans Stand Down event offered Friday

The Klamath and Lake Counties Stand Down for area veterans will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the Klamath County Fairgrounds Event Center, according to a news release.

Included services will include meals, clothing donations, haircuts, access to community resources, Veterans Affairs benefits counseling, Social Security information, spiritual counseling, food stamp referrals, housing information, employment referrals and information, eye exams and glasses, legal assistance and a homeless “courtroom,” hearing needs, substance abuse intervention, counseling and referrals and dental services. For veterans that meet federal guidelines for homelessness, there will be a Department of Defense surplus issue.
