Unaffiliated voters will be allowed to take part in the primary election for the Independent Party of Oregon this May.

While the Democratic and Republican primaries are open only to party members, those without party affiliation will be able to select an Independent candidate May 15.

This year, three candidates are seeking the Independent nomination to run for Oregon governor: Skye Allen of Portland, Dan Pistoresi of Lincoln City and Patrick Starnes of Brownsville. No Independent candidates are filed for local offices.

To participate, unaffiliated voters can contact the Klamath County Clerk’s Office to complete a form requesting a ballot. Forms can be obtained in person or at and must be returned no later than April 24 at 5 p.m.

Requesting a ballot will not change a voter’s status as unaffiliated. Those with questions can contact the clerk’s office at 541-883-5134.
