KID office holds recall election

Volunteer recall election judge Althea Baird holds up a secrecy envelope at the Klamath Irrigation District Office in October. KID board member Grant Knoll survived a recall bid Monday night.

Patrons of Klamath Irrigation District voted overwhelmingly to retain board member Grant Knoll.

The recall effort was rejected by a vote of 84 to 16 Monday.

Knoll and board member Ken Smith both survived the recall bids, but board chairman Brent Cheyne did not.

An election to fill board member positions is also planned on Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Election officials will tally votes after both the Nov. 7 and 8 elections, and ballots for both the recall and the general election will be counted by the KID board on Nov. 14.
