KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Oregon Tech's men's and women's cross country team made school history Wednesday when the Hustlin' Owls were ranked nationally for the first time.

OIT's men received their first votes of the season, and enough to move into the No. 21 slot in this week's national poll. The women were among the teams to receive votes in voting by coaches from around the country.

H&N poll: Do you approve of Kate Brown as governor?

Kate Brown was sworn in Wednesday as Oregon's governor following an influence-peddling scandal that prompted the resignation of fellow Democrat John Kitzhaber. Brown assumed Oregon's highest office during a ceremony at the state Capitol. Brown, formerly the secretary of state, becomes the first openly bisexual governor in the nation. What are your thoughts on her administration? Email us at gobrien@heraldandnews.com
