A new partnership between Klamath Community College and the Oregon Institute of Technology will allow students to complete their associate degree from KCC while taking classes offered at OIT, a move that will increase graduate’s marketability and help KCC acquire funding in the future, officials say.
By allowing students to transfer needed credits from OIT to KCC, the program, known as reverse transferring, will bolster KCC's completion percentage and make the institution more competitive for revenue as the state funding model changes, said KCC community relations coordinator Ryan Brown.
While state funding currently is based on the number of students in classrooms and credit hours taken, the state is undergoing a transition that will move the focus of fund distribution to completion percentage, Brown said.
