Time to get spooky!

The Herald and News is calling on all amateur filmmakers to submit their best 3-minute film celebrating the dark, macabre, cheesy and/or downright scary in its second annual Halloween video contest.

The maker of the most frightening film will win $50. The runner up will receive $25. A special prize of $25 will be awarded for the most spooktastic video by a filmmaker 13 years old or younger.

Films must be appropriate for all ages, which means no excessive gore or foul language. Submit films in .m4v or .mov formats. Submissions will be accepted via email at sking@heraldandnews.com as a zip file, or brought to the Herald and News on a disc or thumb drive. Entries must be received by Oct. 15 and winners will be announced Oct. 31. Happy haunting!
