" Thanks Commissioners for making Klamath County the 5th poorest in the state.

Thanks for all those new jobs you brought in, Thanks for spending our money on all these trips to get us those new jobs.

Thanks for being proactive in getting stable funding.

Thanks for nothing. "

" Yes Cloudbase Dave, we really need to get the attention of the Commissioners.
One will have been at it 16 years and the other about 10 before they're out of office and where have they led this county?
To support dam removal on the Klamath River as a whole (by supporting and promoting the KBRA as Elliot has already done and apparently as Switzer and Hukill are now purporting to) will bring Klamath an even more dubious distinction - largest dam removal/infrastructure destruction in non-war time in the history of the world.

What a thing to be known for - and all with nearly 10% unemployment!

Let's make ourselves known for something positive and constructive - ie: geothermal development, a great technical college (MIT of the West); clean up our surroundings (coming into KF on 97 is a wasteland both directions), etc.
We CAN do something things to attract people/students, but we must have a better or at least more effective local government. "

" We would love to move out. But until we can get full time employment, we'll never save up enough money! I guess we can be thankful for unemployment, but what will happen when everyones extensions run out? Everyone running for the welfare office? Looking for low income housing? Running to HUD to be put on the waiting list??? I bet that list is close to a year now! Maybe we need a 'stimilus' check to those who want to move out? Help us get out of this town? "

" Thank you to the two previous posts! If we can not leaveKlamath Falls, then we will have to really scream LOUDLY at the farces that call themselves "civic leaders". We need to do three things first call on them to assemble a public forum (fancy word for meeting) to discuss and identify the areas that are dragging us down, next compile data t implement a "WORKABLE ECONOMIC PLAN" Finally if these "leaders" don't start listening at least at the city andcounty levels we can have a recall election and take them out period. If I as a OTR Truck Driver refuse to listen to my bosses I am out down the road! It should start right now with the career political hacks! If you don't listen and respond your HISTORY! We are in a time where we can not afford the luxuary of waiting for somehing to happen. We need DECISIVE ACTION NOW! Or we'll wake to find KF's a ghost town! By the way KF's Commissionares a new wing on the psyco ward (mental health expansion) is not going to do anyone a bit of good if everyone is unemployed and seeking the same releif through prescribed medications, counciling. All yes those records for mental health assistance are public record do you want your employer/neighbors to know? "

" you are both correct
too bad nobody else posts maybe they are all greenies and do not read
the country needs to tone down the deq's rules and regulations so manufacturing jobs can come back to everywhere in america. really,,, nafta was not a good thing for america so many manufacturing jobs left to never return
mexicans get paid anywhere from 100 to 250 pesos per 10 hour 6 day workweek i know because i have known several mexicans that worked at these factorys, automotive factorys love this cheap labor! didn't anybody read about frieghtliner closing down and moving to mexico? google up truck manufacturers closing in portland and you will see lots of info about it.
now why can't we keep these heavy family supporting community supporting manufacturing jobs in america ?? look at the money and politics. it is really sad to see where we are headed and who knows when it will end. why america is selling itself out i'll never know
keep in mind folks the mexicans that cross the border can still be paid better working in the fields of america than they can at an automotive plant in mexico compare that to what our unionized labor force earns per hour and then do the math it isn't hard to see why the auto companys move thier plants and nafta is why they can export back to america cheaply. anyway go figure maybe we better build another nail and hair salon and shopping mall that'll keep the contruction industy going for a couple more years "

" These numbers are tragic, but probably only the beginning.
If we listen to our fearless leaders (Pres. Bush, Obama and Gov's. K and the Terminator) we can just put everyone to work tearing out the Klamath Dams, destroying clean hydropower for 70,000 homes, and other equally inane proposals, while taxing us into oblivion to pay the same people to build "other green power" sources. Oh and don't forget those electric Chinese and Japanese cars the governor wants us to buy!! That'll help unemployment in Oregon. "

Cloudbase Dave wrote on Dec 1, 2008 8:56 AM:

" Well folks unless your retired on three or more pensions and your nest is empty better think about leaving the area! It doesn't bode well with a city/county government that thinks JAIL and PSYCO WARDS are what will make Klamath Falls a etter place to live. As soon as the holidays are concluded I am packing my family up and moving away, even if it means living under a bridge somewhere else. Our chances of escaping never ending poverty would still be better than staying here! "
