Thumbs Up: We loved last Saturday night’s Hustlin’ Owl game against Lee University. It was a perfect basketball night, even before the basketball started.
A lot of singers go all out when they do the National Anthem. They jazz it up a little and show off their chops, and that’s just fine. But last Saturday night a young woman sang it pure and simple and a lot of us sang along.
Everything else clicked. ...
Thumbs Down: To Oregon’s high level of “food insecurity.”
That’s the catch phrase for people going hungry. More than 12 percent of the state’s population lacks food security; more than 5 percent are in some sort of dire straits. The Oregon hunger rate, according to USDA surveys, is well over the U.S. average.
Some of us let our personal pride fog over our compassion, as in: “They’ll get by -- people need to take responsibility for themselves.” ...
Thumbs Up: To one of the nicest city parks we’ve seen.
And to the city workers and volunteers who help make Moore Park a really nice place. Need to burn off a couple pounds of Thanksgiving feasting? There can’t be a better place as convenient to Klamath Falls residents. ...
