How about giving some of that aid to the rest of us?
If I were to write a letter to President-elect Obama, it would say this:
Dear President Obama:
My husband and I are in that $120,000 range. So I went to work today and quit my job. Now I am going to need some of the wealth.
I would like to keep the roof over my head and my two new cars and, of course, some money to go to the doctor because I am sure I’m going to need those anti-depressants; and also the fourth of my four children needs to finish college.
Oh, wait! I just remembered: “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.”
Merry Christmas, everyone.

" Linda,
Why say IF? People who are concerned should contact their Senators, Representatives and President like I do on issues. We elected them to work for us and they need public input. "

" And if I were in the new Obama administration, I would reply:
This is a new and challenging era that we are entering into in America. Part of what we have planned is a fair and accurate accounting of crimes committed by this past administration and the proper assignment of attentions to see that the criminal excesses of these past eight years are not perpetuated.
Please note that we have added your name to the ledger under the heading "Conspiracy with Intent to Defraud".
Greed and sloth are not only mortal sins, if one were to believe in such things... they are, as of now, socially inappropriate and unacceptable.
Thank you for your letter. "

Do you seriously expect to win anyone over with that non sequitur? Is your ability at rational logic so impaired that such a childish concept seems valid to offer for public consumption?
Even with the projected tax impact on a married couple in your demographic, the numbers are still better if you keep your job. Also, if you were to quit your job and, for some odd reason, the government didn't look at you like you were insane, by thinking you had a right to apply for aid after quiting a job for no reason, the numbers are still better for you to have kept your job and accepted the tax.
It is very ignorant of you, I feel, to make such a malformed attempt at sympathy, as if someone, anyone, who is in the economic situation that you are in, a situation better than many hardworking people in the Klamath Basin alone, has the right to make a play for being held down or infringed upon.
Seriously, if you disagree with the tax changes, which are proposed, not yet enacted, then find a logical way to do just that, but this bought of messianic narcissism is just sad. "
