So now it’s time to just get along?

Thursday, November 13, 2008 11:29 PM PST
I was amused by Dotte Shaffer’s recent letter to the editor wherein she stated that we should all get behind President-elect Obama and give him our full support.

I find this amusing because her and a few local liberal Democrats like her have consistently trashed President Bush during his entire administration. Maybe we can all just get along now.

We will have an easier time supporting this liberal president, because apparently he does not have the same fondness for cigars.

" Just get along huh? I think that is not going to happen. The limits of liberalism have reached their breaking point and there will not be anymore compromises. The Feminists have went to far, the Homosexuals have went to far, multiculturalism has went to far, the Ziocons have went to far, the education system has went to far, the government is robbing us blind and everything has reached a point of saturated abuse in an image controlled society that has lost its ability to think critically about anything. Soon even the most abhorrent behavior will be tolerated as "normal". I say don't tolerate the intolerable anymore.

Just watch the videos of interviews with voters coming out of the polling places. Talk about living proof of a totally failed education system... Yuppers....it looks to me like America is done for with out a doubt....You will be trading whats left of your dollars for Ameros soon anyways and somewhere some stupid communist wants to take away my only means of self defense when the violence starts. AAARGH!!!!!
Both Obama and McCain have spoke at 6th grade comprehension levels throughout their entire campaigns. What happens when it gets to the kindergarten level?
No we won't getting along....This division in America will only continue to grow larger until it explodes. I'll put my money on the people who didn't give up their firearms to the New World Order commies. "

" Dave,

If that's your real name, Those administrations didn't cook intelligence at the time nor did they go to war with Iraq. Those weapons of mass destruction (biological) was given to them by us and Rumsfeld was the one that went to Iraq to help Saddam Hussein to get them from us. "

" Larry,

Is that what you believe is going to happen? I'm not a liberal conspiracy theorist. I just have alot of time to research the facts unlike you who throughs out dribble. As for Senator Ron Wyden, he spoke on the news about the document. "

" RH,
Here's some more lies.

"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."
--President Bill Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
--President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

"Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face."
--Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998

"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983."
--Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998

"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs."
Letter to President Clinton, signed by:
-- Democratic Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others, Oct. 9, 1998

"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
-Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998

"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
-- Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999

And those are just the ones before Bush was elected! "

" Planning for failure, masked in any flavor of fear-mongering, prejudice or pure self centered hate is still a fair representation of the kind of classless, baseless, totally clueless world view engendered by the Fox News fair and balanced generation. I, for one, am NOT amused.

This malarkey has got to stop. Let’s take your premise in the letter FIRST, before addressing the comments below. Counting myself as one of those “few local liberal Democrats”, although I am not a staunch ANYTHING, and being presumptuous enough to speak for the ones I know, WE did not trash Bush, nor did we begin attacking him prior to him ascendancy to the highest office in the land.

We did have the audacity, as our rights were slowly eroded on a wave of manufactured fear not unlike the fear you attempt to share with us daily, began to point out that not only was the Emperor (The Great Decider) wearing no clothes but that he was almost certainly the worst leader this country had ever elected… TWICE. I could fill pages with factual arguments and empirical proofs of that premise but I suspect it would do little good. Belief and fear are too primal to yield to reason.

If you are truly concerned about America, truly concerned about how and where we go in these next four years, join the team. Leave the freaking sidelines and stop seeking failure that has not and may not happen. I can tell you this; if this were a team sport and any player of mine entered the toughest part of the game with the attitude you express regarding Team America and her current coach; we would be having this little chat in the locker room.

If Obama turns out as you are convinced he will, know this… we tree hugging, conspiracy theory believing liberals have watched in horror as the current occupant of the Offal Office has damaged our country at every turn. We hope and believe he Obama not do so and will continue to support and believe him until he PROVES different. If that day were to arrive, we would fight Obama with the same vigor we fought Bush and company.

The reason for that is simple, for us, facts trump hysteria. "

And the black helicopters are circling your house. It's time that your liberal conspiracy theories are put to rest. "

" James,

Is that all you got? You Christian, Republican's who supported Bush are as responsible for the innocent blood shedding in Iraq as Bush and Cheney Administration is. It has be proven they got us in to war with Iraq with lies. As one of the documents to prove it comes from what the under-secretay of defense Douglas Feith's office cooked that said al-Quida was in Iraq before the war. Feith's bosses were Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, "Scooter" Libby and Cheney. Senator Ron Wyden has that report since he serves on the intelligence committee. "

" James, He may not have a fondness for cigars but he may have a fondness for secret meetings in the White House pool for swimming lessons.

As usual we have to wait a while for things to become clearer and focused like with John Edwards. "
