What's the ugliest road in town?
A story in Friday's paper discussed the status of city street maintenance and repairs. City officials say it would cost between $50 million and $80 million to bring all city streets up to fair condition. Finding funding is and has been a major hurdle. The city allocated $5.8 million to street maintenance, repair and construction in its current budget.
Are local roads really that bad? Which road (city or county) is the worst? We're taking recommendations below (and if you'd like to e-mail us a photo, click here.) To get things rolling, I nominate Grant Street, mainly because it's in my neighborhood.
We'll continue to follow this story, and welcome your suggestions.

I hope these words taste better than feet, since infrastructure rebuilding is one way the next administration is looking to help rebuild the economy. Most of this stuff has been neglected since at least the Reagan admin, so just close your eyes and pick a target to blame. "

The locals formed a volunteer, self funded, maintence group out of desperation because the county would not do anything.
The county still charges the road tax to each property. The county has never even placed a road bed down for the locals to maintain!
Yonna Woods rd. was the location you may remember, where last winter the older couple became stuck on the road in their 4 wheel drive truck while trying to navigate thru. It took the sheriff's office 2 days to rescue them as their stuck vehicle became covered in snow.
I believe a chip seal road would have prevented this.
Thanks for your interest in "our" problem. "

Are you sure that yonna woods dr. is county?I am 95% positive that it is controlled through a local road department just like ground squirrel and the other gravel roads out there.
The county chip sealed bliss road from 140 to sprague river hwy.The county is also funding the bridge replacements on sprague river hwy.
Just saying not pointing fingers or nothing. "

Now, a child is walking to school, say KU and is walking in a city cross walk and breaks his or her leg in one of the huge cracks in the ceoss walk...is someone going to get sued?
I have sat on my front porch and watched women pushing baby strollers that have to go outside of the cross walks into traffic because they cannot puch thier strollers through the cross walk because the cracks are so extream it will not allow it..Mother and child get hit by a car..whose at fault?
They people who are in charge of the city roads had better pull their heads out of their ##### and get this taken care of before their is blood on thier hands. "

There are 81 residents that live within 12 miles on rutted mud roads. Mail boxes are 2 miles up on the dirt/mud road. We have to drive 18 miles each way (36 miles RT) to the post office just to get our daily post. The county has neglected the rural areas since the county was formed. "
