Klamath Union quarterback is name Southern Sky Conferences's Offensive Football Player of the Year

Klamath Union’s Eric Chadderdon and Mazama’s Danny Saltenberger were two of the four players to gain double first-team honors on the 2008 all-Southern Sky Conference football team.
Chadderdon was named to the first team offense as a wide receiver, and the first team defense as a back; while Saltenberger gained first-team honors as a running back and linebacker.
The other two players to gain two-way honors were Eagle Point’s Garrett Davis (wide receiver and defensive back), and Crater’s Kenny Fahndrich (running back and linebacker).
Tied at the top
Of the four, only Fahndrich garnered one of the league’s top awards. He shared Defensive Player of the Year honors with teammate Dario Mobley.
The league’s Offensive Player of the Year award also was tie, with Klamath Union’s Jon Amos and Ashland’s Talon Haggard sharing the honor. Both were their team’s quarterbacks.
Chadderdon finished third in the league in scoring with 89 points, including a league-leading 29 conversion kicks. Haggard led the league in scoring with 153 points and a league high 16 touchdowns. Davis scored 106 points.
Chadderdon also was third in the league with 556 receiving yards on 22 catches. Davis led the league with 65 receptions.
Saltenberger tied Fahndrich for second place in the league with 678 net rushing yards, two ahead of Eagle Point’s Anthony Jose. Haggard was the league’s top rusher with 1,229 yards.
Haggard also had a league high 1,712 passing yards.
Amos, meanwhile, led the Southern Sky Conference with 112 completions in 186 attempts (third high), and his quarterback rating of 166.5 was easily the league’s best. He also had a league 19 touchdowns and was lowest of the five starting quarterbacks with four interceptions.
In addition to Chadderdon and Amos, other first-team picks from Klamath Union were Luke Porter (running back), Randy Denson (tight end), Cody Rick (defensive line) and Josh Gibson (linebacker).
Joining Saltenberger as first-team picks from Mazama were Cory Crane (offensive line), Johnny Lehto (offensive line) and Josh Peck (defensive line).
Lehto was a second-team defensive line selection.
KU’s other second-team picks were Gary Fonseca-Fisher (running back), Wil Todd (offensive line), Alex Stork (defensive line) and Max Mirande (linebacker).
Mazama’s other second-team selections were Dylan Carlson (running back, defensive back), Gage Beckman (wide receiver), Derek Larman (place kicker) and Steven Josephson (linebacker).
KU’s honorable mention players were Jeremy Hobbs (offensive line), Peter Bell (defensive back) and Randy Denson (defensive back).
For Mazama, Greg Hall (wide receiver), Tyler Rodgers (offensive line), Daniel Mathis (linebacker) and Jacob Hatcher (linebacker) were among the honorable mention selections.
