" I am sorry to say that our country will remain divided for a long time to come. I thought we all could get together and become united, but the damage and hate runs too deep. It it one side saying to the other side (and has been for a while now)...My guy got in and yours didn't so nah. It is a sad sad day for America.

Even if McCain had won, I would have wished for the same...And I can say that honestly... but it woudn't have change the divide that we have had for such a long time

So here we sit on one side of the fence or the other and for what? So our government can get stronger while the people fight among themselves. If you ask me...they might have the key we are missing. They have stood united party to party and will stand united against the little people and unfortunately...we have let them. "Keep the people bickering among themselves while we give out huge sums of money to companies that would otherwise fail. Let's keep them busy blaming each others parties while we make the changes we want to, because if they are busy, they won't know what the issues are and won't care, because later, when they do find out"... the blame game starts again. And it has...

Well, to my fellow Americans, from today on, I refuse to blame one party or another...but blame the politicians that have made the decisions. No more mudslinging to my neighbors...no more...

I truly hate to see such a divided
America, but more so a divided Klamath. Everyone here is entitled to their opinion and their choices and you know what? That is what the Constitution of the United States gave us. It gave us the freedom to make choices and not be condemned by it.

The infighting has to stop and the finger pointing. We all need to start looking at our politicians and start asking them questions. Because I tell you what... no one here can tell me why a politician voted a certain way... or if they even know how they voted...me included. But I intend to find out now. "

" To Michael...and the rest

I lived in the Seattle area for over 20 years before moving here...yes when I came I was horrified at the ignorance of the population as a whole...but Klamath Falls is a beautifull place to live...I refuse to let the closed minded drive me out. I will stay... my children who are raised to be diverse will also stay.

As un-racial as we are as a family I will address the issue of race in this fashion.
Have you ever been in the deep South or in Miami? Have you ever tried to "show" kindness to a person of color in that area? If you walk into the wrong area as the wrong color....you will die. Its not a joke...it is still very real and if you think I don't know what I am talking about take a stroll to Hilltop in Tacoma or try taking your self down to Compton in L.A. I dare you to just take your pooch and go for a stroll....ha, you won't last five minutes.

The fact is...

This country has good and bad on both the white and black sides of the fence and no matter how hard we try you will see hatred...do you really think Oprah is not racially motivated when she supports Obama?

Do you really think that this election was won because of Obama's promises?

Yea, right the leader of our counrty was elected because of his color and title as an African-American.

Obama sends a fuzzy message it feels warm and tingly because he is telling the american people what we want to hear....the oldest trick in the book.

Let me make it a little more simple...tell the woman what she wants to hear and bada bing ...your the lucky man.

We are the lucky american...black or white doesn't matter.

The next morning (in four years) your still going to feel like you where used.

I will still teach my children the truth about the fact that our skin color means nothing ...we are all equal regardless of skin color or gender...respect to all WHO DESERVE RESPECT THRU THEIR ACTIONS.

On the other hand you will not find me walking the pooch at 9PM in Tacoma's Hilltop of under the Alaskan Way via-duct after dinner at Pier 69.

You will however find me at the local gun store in Klamath Falls making sure my ammendment rights are protected :-) "

I haven't shown a lack of respect to anyone, especially you. I am willing to unite behind our elected president although I disagree with some of his views. I'm simply pointing out that none of us would find any postings 8 years ago about your eagerness to unite the parties. That itself should explain to you why there's such separation.............

"But as far as I can tell from the way conservative right...You can never respect my opinion, even if deep down you agree." ....................... You seem to be pushing your opinion on me, but I still respect is as your own. Show me where I didn't?

"You have no respect for me or others

"I am able to see outside my box and see what our great country has to offer us".................a guess the vision outside your box is more important than the vision outside mine........see previous comment.

"...and regardless of who leads us...it is the followers that make the difference.".......Can you honestly say that you would have made that comment 8 years ago?

Everything you've typed is an example of your opinion, and how anyone who has thier own shows a lack of respect.

You're the only one proving how one sided a conversation with you would be.

Thank you, I had a wonderful day..............I hope I don't disrespect you by wishing you the same good day. "

Optimistic wrote on Nov 5, 2008 8:20 PM:

" You know honestly I had a hard time being excited about any of the political parties this time around. When they announced the candidates for both parties I just had a hard time following either one they just didn't give me that warm fuzzy feeling. I was really and truly hoping that Rudy Giuliani would go further that is who I was interested in because I thought he did a wonderful job when it came to the 9/11 attacks. And you can all tell me off because that is who I was hoping for but he never really got his feet off the ground and it was a shame to me. I did prefer McCain a little more than Obama but I think it was because I really enjoyed Sarah Palin I guess because she seemed genuine to me and that is my opinion I realize not everyone is going to agree with me. I do think it is great that we are changing history it gives the future generation something to look forward too and realize that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. I am going to be optimistic about Obama in hopes that he can make some great changes and carryout this country in a professional manner and not disappoint us, the same feeling I would have towards McCain. We are in a huge economic hardship and hopefully he will help us pull out of it. My biggest concern is that he will pull out our troops fighting for our freedom and that it might bring another type of problem such as another 9/11. You have to remember that a great number of those troops have volunteered to go overseas to fight for our country and you would hate for it to be in our backyard so to speak. I know that Bush has a very low approval rating and that a lot of people are very disappointed in him. I however am trying to look at some of the good things that he has done such as capturing Saddam Hussein. While he does not have a great approval rating he will be a president that you remember good and bad and tell your children and grandchildren about, at least I will because later down the road you will see the clearing in the fog. Really and truly all you can do is give everyone a fair chance and see what becomes of it.

Just so you know I didn't vote for either candidate I wrote in my vote. "

VW Bug wrote on Nov 5, 2008 5:45 PM:

" BS... we HAD to stand by our president or be seen as a traitor to this country. I didn't and don't have to like him or how he has lied (proven) us into a war.

I am not worried about my party affiliation as you seem to be worried about it.

But as usual, you have digressed from the issue. I would just like to see some unity in this country and non-partisianship, because that is what has created the divide. You assume to know who I am and what my ideals are and I suppose I do the same to you. But for the sake of this country, maybe, just maybe we can all learn to put it aside and try to unite as we once were. But I know... from the venues that are out there, that there is little chance because you are going to have your beliefs and I am going to have mine...and perhaps they may be the same, and perhaps they won't. But shouldn't we all respect each other and each other's opinions...even if we don't agree with it?

I am and always have been proud to be an American, but what I am not proud of is how divided this country has become. That was my point. And even with George in the WH, I at least learned to accept those opinions that I did not agree with. But as far as I can tell from the way conservative right...You can never respect my opinion, even if deep down you agree. That is the greatest sadness of all. No respect and just as you have shown me...You have no respect for me or others
who have opinions that might vary from your own.

Again, I say... what is ignorance and intolerance??? I don't know and I don't care... It is a sad world to be in, but I am glad that I am able to see outside my box and see what our great country has to offer us...and regardless of who leads us...it is the followers that make the difference.

You are very entitled to your opinion and heaven knows I don't care if you ever seek anything beyond what you chose to know, but do not condemn me for what my beliefs are or what I chose to know.

Have a nice day sir.... "

I was originally a supporter of Bill Richardson, but when I read some of the ideas that Obama held I threw my support behind him. All the people who say God help us, please, with what GWB has done to this great country, there is no way that Obama could do any worse. All over the world, in areas that hated us for bringing Bush to a second term, they are saying that the Americans finally did something right. People said horrible vile things about Michelle Obama when she said she is finally proud to be an American and you know what, I know what she was talking about. I am so proud and optimistic, partially because I am no longer in a place as backward as Klamath Falls, that I can barely keep the smile off my face at work. "

I pray that when Obama's tenure is completed, they will make the transition for his successor as smooth. There is a difference in Obama vs. Clinton, and it is not race. Whether you voted for him or not - he is to be respected and supported, especially during a time of war. He is inheriting 2 wars. Iraq is being won, our troops will be leaving there. Afghanistan - a hotbed again. We will not be leaving there anytime soon. Our new President elect needs our support and our prayers. We are a United States - we all bleed red, regardless of our race, our religion, etc. We have to work together for the common good of all. Have a wonderful day! It is easy to see that what has been going on in this country from the leadership on down for the past eight years has not been working. It has been downright embarrassing. Our country and our people are better than that and deserve better. We are in desparate need of change. The kind of change Obama will bring. All that are "hard core, right wing, I'm a republican because I don't know any better" should start accepting him now, because he will be the president of our great country and the last time I checked this was called the UNITED States of America, as it should be, and as it should continue to be. I have lived in Klamath my whole life and I have been voting for 11 years so when I got to vote for President the first time they had already started the mail in ballots and not that it is bad but I would like to just once go and vote in a booth. " Few holes in your statements:

"ayers is a well-respected professor"

Wrong: He is a domestic terrorist who is unrepentant for his action, many people died because of his actions, now he is influencing the young. This man is no better than a sex offender, and needs to be kept away from children.

Obama started his political career in his living room using terrorist dollars.

I only hope that your candidate legalizes what your smokin, because if he is elected, we will all need to live in the fairy tale land your in now.

Good Luck "

" regarding Larry's post:
he same can be said of those who openly support mccain. discuss the matter accordingly with their conservative neighbors because they don't want to ostracized by them, even go so far as to put mccain signs up on their front lawns because heaven forbid they be construed as liberals, socialist, marxists, communists, or just plain unamerican (said with the twang of someone from georgia). but deep down inside they know who best. who speaks the facts, who has a valid plan for our economic crisis, who really cares about this country and the average voter... and not about some outdated religious ideology. they know that when they touch that button, poke that chad, pull that lever or fill that bubble the future of this great country and it's tarnished image are at stake and will vote Obama. But then again we do live in the U.S. and i would never count any republican out, i mean we've so many good ones. there was... oh wait, what about... you know... well let me get back to you when i can remember one. "

" I will admit that there are some loose ties between wright, ayers and kahlidi. so how will i even start?

ayers is a well-respected professor of lit who was at the time of his so-called terrorist acts speaking out against a corrupt government that lied to its people any chance it got and attempted, and still does, to bolster support for only the rich white people under the guise of religious right. he will go down in history as a extremely influential non-politico who fought for the underdog. the ties you speak of are flimbsy at best. they served on the same educational board in inter-city chicago. so, judging by the way the republicans talk about these areas, the people are anti-patriotic and because they don't back mccain don't care about the country so they don't really matter. rubbish! there are many more people living in these areas than rural ones. how dare you insinuate these people are somehow less american than yourself. am i not an american?

he did attend church for 20 year under this wright guy. but has since refuted any involvement. wright IS out there, but he is also speaking out against the U.S. government, one that has oppressed people of color. if you could only put yourself in his shoes for a minute, practice a little empathy, you'd feel differently. what if your race had been kept down for hundreds of years and under the mask of this equality banner continues to have be taken advantage of and remains stifled professionally, culturally, financially, and POLITICALLY! you'd be furious, i assure you.

i notice you didn't even mention kahlidi... the PLO guy that wright and Obama collectively gave something like $80,000 dollars to. or is that the jew-hating part of your weak argument? maybe it's best you not mention his name because this guy does not support a free Israeli state in the middle east and they two of those guys did give him some cash a couple of years ago, AND your candidate (lil ole mccain) gave him nearly $500,000! so, which candidate is the anti-semite? not my guy. if you do the math mccain is like 5 time more of an antisemite than both Obama and Wright combined. Scary correlations are one thing the truth is the ONLY thing! "

I believe that when a voter is alone in the voting booth, and it comes time to mark one or the other, doubt will go through thier mind on Obama and they will vote McCain. They will think, "Oh it's just one vote, it won't matter", but in the long run it will.

People will come to their senses at the last minute, and save us from 4 years of an Obama Socialist Government. "

Biden makes Cheney look like a rocket scientist, and without a teleprompter, I don't know if Hussein knows how to talk.

Oh well, I'm taking my money out of investments now, because we won't have any left if the libs are in.

Can't wait to come back in a few months after he's sworn in, and say "Told you so". I wonder how many planes will be flown into buildings in the next 4 years? "

They continue to allow themselves to be force fed by Limbaugh/Hannity/Savage (real name Weiner) daily because that the only thing on the radio in English in the smaller cities. If Obama wins, the reason is very clear. Americans are apalled by the clowns placed by the Republicans is 2000 and are enthusiastic about someone as opposite as possible. Frankly I dont feel like voting for anyone who is even the same color as George Bush, Im so disgusted. So if its President Obama, and you voted for W, you can look in the mirror to find who is responsible. ( I think he'll do just fine.) 76 more days of this idiot and if McCain wins its still a vast improvement. "

Sounds like they grew up in the sticks somewhere and has bought into every attack the republicans have thrown at Obama... this compasionate, intelligent, eloquent and highly respected senator just happens to be a better candidate. He's ideas on the economy have been accepted by many, even republican pundits, to be more sound than mccains, who's just happen to be outdated. And while mccain holds onto this antiquated ideology, with regard to our country's involvement in iraq, Obama is poised to take the emphasis off of iraq putting that money into actually going after the REAL terrorist.
We need to repair our image around the globe not perpetuate the negativity that has made us the enemy to all. have you been out of the basin, the state, the country lately? We are not the powerhouse we use to be. We have become a joke. I'll chose a little irrational fear over a candidate i know to be irratic and out of touch. Thanks. "

"You have to pinch yourself....
A Marxist radical, who all his life has been mentored by, sat at the feet of, worshipped with, befriended, endorsed the philosophy of, funded, and been in turn funded, politically promoted and supported by a nexus comprising black power, anti-white racists, Jew-haters, revolutionary Marxists, unrepentant former terrorists, and Chicago mobsters, is on the verge of becoming President of the United States. This is a very conservative area but as a 30 white male I am very proud of the support Obama has recieved in this area. This country is a giant melting pot and I believe there is no better candidate to represent the diverse interests of ALL voters than that of the senator from ILL. If you turned on the news once in a while, something other than FOX, you'd see this. I know you're scared this country is changing and you fear you'll be left behind, but you need to trust the succeeding generation to make this decision, becuase lets face it you're not making the decisioin becuase you make enough money to actually benefit from a McCain agenda, you're making it based on your warped perception of what the US and its politicians should LOOK like. Grow Up! We are the future of this beautiful country and I am proud to be an American for the first time in nearly 7 years. This last administration has been an embarassemnt to the U.S. OBAMA represents REAL change! "

Might want to check the survey, you are in enemy territory here in Klamath Falls. We don't want Hussein, but unfortunately, whatever Portland, Eugene and Ashland wants, the rest of us gets.

I'm not moving anywhere, been here all my life. I have survived many presidents, and will survive Hussein as well. The majority of the comments are the people complaining about the way Klamath County votes, my response was, if you don't like it move.

Your the one trespassing on republican land, not us. "
