Man sentenced in Dorris bank robbery

A 34-year-old Medford man was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in federal prison for his participation in bank robberies in Dorris, Calif. and Gold Hill, and the robbery of a Medford bar in 2005.

Thomas Ray Taylor gathered money while his accomplices, brandished a handgun during the robberies of the Premier West Bank in Dorris and the Washington Mutual Bank in Gold Hill, according to the Department of Justice. Taylor’s accomplices, Edward Jay Silva, 30, of Medford, and Micah Joe Downing, 36, of Cave Junction, were also given federal prison sentences.

Approximately $196,000 was taken during the Washington Mutual robbery.
