Lakeview runner second at State of Jefferson meet

ASHLAND — Lakeview’s Ashley Baldovino finished second in the girls varsity race of the annual State of Jefferson cross country championships Saturday at Lithia Park.

Baldovino covered the girls 5,000-meter event in 19 minutes, 31.92 seconds, and trailed only Piper Delaney of South Medford who won the race in 19:22.97. Delaney led the Panthers to the team title.

Other top finishers for the girls were Henley’s Katie Waugh, who was 28th overall, and Mazama’s Sara Nelson. Nelson placed 33rd.
