Death thought to be from natural causes
Posted 10 a.m. Friday: An 80-year-old woman who pleaded guilty to animal neglect Thursday was found dead later in the day in her Hill Road home. Leta May Johnson’s death was reported at about 10:15 p.m. Thursday by her daughter. Sheriff Tim Evinger said the death was unattended, but is thought to be from natural causes, and was not suspicious in nature.
Posted Thursday: An 80-year-old woman pleaded guilty in court Thursday to one count of animal neglect after more than a year of court appearances. She also was arrested and spent a few days in the Klamath County Jail. Leta May Johnson, 10440 Hill Road, was charged more than a year ago for allegedly neglecting to feed her horses, sheep and cattle.
Johnson was given a deferred sentence, which could cause the conviction to be kept off of her record if she follows the rules of her five-year probation period. In the next five years, she is not allowed to own animals except for her two dogs, said Klamath County District Attorney Ed Caleb.

" Maybe some of you should be reminded that this is the same woman who's ranch hand was found dead in her drive way. Also why trash this woman who has died? Nothing better to do I suppose just like the officials in this town, I think I am more worried about the drugs and murders that are happening over some animals not being fed. People need to get their priorities straight. "

" Mrs. Johnson was capable of feeding her animals. She had the financial ability. She proved after firing a great caretaker that she could take care of them when she wanted to. She just didn't want to. She was an intellegent woman. She was an animal hoarder that needed to be prosicuted which had nothing to do with her death. I was there and KHS paid over $9000.00 for food and meds. "

" Shame on Bee and Fred....Should we question your state of mind?
So what i'm understanding is because of Mrs. Johnson's age means she is above the law? According to Bee and Fred that's the case, she knew better, and she knew it for a very long time. If her state of mind was in question her family should have stepped in alot sooner, so do we place "blame" on them? I would look at them before I look at thae D.A. Her family could have prevented this, the D.A. did his job, just as she thought she was doing her job in trying to take care of all those animals, may she reat in peace knowing she tried. "
