Cooler temperatures help fire crews

Cooler weather is helping firefighters battle the Middle Fork fire in the Sky Lakes Wilderness Area and a small southwest corner of Crater Lake National Park. Meanwhile, the Royce Butte fire, which began last Tuesday and threatened homes in the Crescent Lake Junction area of northern Klamath County, was fully contained Saturday.

Saturday night fire officials lifted all evacuation notices, but cautioned people living in and near Crescent Lake Junction, Odell and Crescent lakes and the Diamond Peaks subdivison to “keep in mind that we are still in fire season.” More than 100 people were evacuated Tuesday night through Thursday.
