Posted 8:20 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1 -- Recent weather conditions caused the Klamath County 911 Communications Center to be flooded with calls, said Jeanine Dilley, center director.
They have dispatched services for many minor accidents throughout the county.
“When it’s an emergency, they need to call,” she said. She, as well as several other emergency officials in Klamath and Lake counties, are urging people to stay off of the roads during snow storms.

Posted 7:32 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1 --Chains are currently required on towing vehicles or vehicles over 10,000 GVW between mileposts 25 and 35 on Highway 140 heading toward Lakeview, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation. The same chain requirements are also in effect between mileposts 51 and 57 and 21 and 41 heading toward Medford.
The chain restriction between mileposts 9 and 44 on Highway 66 toward Ashland is still in effect. ODOT is still recommending limited vehicle use and for motorists to carry chains in their vehicles.
The US 97 rest area at milepost 282 near Klamath Falls has been closed because of the weather.

There are still road closures due to the weather. Highway 62 north and southbound between mileposts 84-90, the Highway 70 intersection with Highway 140, and Highway 140 west and eastbound between mileposts 28 and 65 are all still closed due to the weather.

Posted 5:35 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 31 -- A 3-year-old was injured at about 4 p.m. today when a roof over a porch collapsed at a residence in the 7900 block of Highway 140 East. The toddler was transported to Sky Lakes Medical Center with minor injuries after being rescued from underneath the snow and debris by Klamath County Fire District No. 1 personnel.

U.S. 20 in the Santiam Pass area at milepost 75 to 80 is closed due to a snow slide. Highway 62 in the Chiloquin area at milepost 90 to 84, near the Fort Klamath to Crater Lake boundary, is closed due to heavy snow and drifting. Oregon Highway 140 is closed at , the Adel section, milepost 28 to 65 due to extreme winter conditions. ODOT reports it may be days before this section of 140 is reopened. Highway 70 from Dairy to Bonanza is closed from milepost 0 to 7 due to drifting snow.

The Klamath Falls Veterans Affairs outpatient Clinic is closed today because of weather and road conditions.
Highway 70 to Bonanza is closed because of weather conditions starting at the intersection with Highway 140. It is expected to remain closed until conditions improve.
Posted 10:40 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 31 -- Heavy snow drifts were reported on Highway 140 west of Lakeview because of falling and drifting snow. Chamber manager Caro Johnson said most the downtown Lakeview stores were closed.
Due to weather-related highway conditions, the Lake County Winter Quilt Festival and Vintage Tablecloth Show, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at the Lake County Fairgrounds has been canceled.
Posted: 10:15 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 31: -- A Klamath Falls-area man was seriously injured and his 6-year old daughter received minor injuries Wednesday night when their pickup was struck by two commercial trucks on Highway 97 in Klamath Falls. Scott Michael Nieman, 35, was seriously injured and trapped in his pickup. Klamath County Fire District No. 1 personnel responded to the scene at about 7:25 p.m. and worked for nearly 2 1/2 hours to extricate Nieman. During extrication, a surgeon was summoned to the scene to assess the seriously injured man's condition. He was transported to Sky Lakes Medical Center for treatment.
The highway was closed more than five hours because of the crash and rescue efforts.
Nieman's 6-year old daughter was seated in the right rear passenger area and received minor injuries. She was also transported to Sky Lakes Medical Center. Neither commercial driver was injured.

" I have to agree with Idaho... It would be nice if we did it ourselves, then we would get what we want when we want it. But Idaho, Havent you noticed some people are lazy and dont care about nobody but themselves. And for the plows drivivng around with their plows up yeah they have rules when it comes to their jobs just like everyone else. You know there is schools and children that play on the streets, they have certain times to do roads.... Why dont you go get a snow plow and start plowing if it is a big problem. You idaho you dont suck, people are just mad cause you know how to work together as a community. "

" Like I said before this is Klamath Falls. The weather forcasts say one thing but mother earth dose different. I have lived here my whole life. I know how the weather is here. Just like last year the weather forcast said we were sopposed to get alot of snow... Did we? No. I agree that the city should have been perpared but you can only do so much. They have tried their best considering there isnt many people who help. That is why I said citizens of Klamath Falls can help by doing their share of the work. I go out and shovely my driveway and my neibors exspecailly those who are older and cant do it themselves. I have had some complaints about the city too but I do have the respect to know that they are doing their best. With little help and little equitment you cant do much. What people should do is complain about the city counsel not putting tax payers money to more equitment to things we may need for times like these. But tax payers shouldnt complain about something that they could be helping to do themselves. It is called helping others. I just feel some people are selfish and lazy and excpect others to their petty jobs, when everyone can come together as a society and help one another. So with that goodbye... "

In saying that I have a request, can someone PLEASE come to the Pacific Terrace area, esp. Erie St...you can not drive a car down either of these roads without scrapping the bottom of your car along the snow/ice. (if you do make it down these roads!

" I went to school @ OIT during the 95/96 winter (That year there was twice as much snow as this season). During that time I had a 2-wheel drive car and was able to get around just fine. However, I was born and raised in IDAHO and over here (In Conservative Land) we learn to fend for ourselves rather than rely on government help like you liberals over in Oregon. Catch a clue. Are you trying to tell us that the city had no idea we were going to get so much snow? Everyone knows how the weather is here in Klamath, we cant predict the weather, it dose what it wants, where it wants and when it wants.... They had no idea this weather was going to hit us the way it did and all we can do is try and get the roads safe and secure and that is what the city workers and the local police is trying to do. And also it would help to if some citizens would drive safely to prevent these accendent from happening. I dont know how many times I have been pushed off the road or cut off cause of inconsidrete people. Just cause your bigger or better in driving then some of us dosent mean you own the road or that you wont cause an accedent. I did complain earlier about the snow plows not clearing out the roads good enough but that is because I almost seen my husband and nephew and great nephew get in a bad wreck. I chose to live off this road and think the plows are doing their best, which appears quite good to me.
