Labor Day weekend plans
The Weekender column in Friday’s paper has some good ideas for what to do this Labor Day weekend. To recap:

The Lake County fair, which runs Friday through Monday in Lakeview. Country musician Darryl Worley will perform at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. A livestock auction, rodeos and the Lakeview Labor Day Dash also are planned over the weekend.

Camping. The best advice is to arrive early because spots fill up fast. If you are making a late start, consider some of the lesser-developed sites on the Fremont-Winema National Forests or out-of-the-way Bureau of Land Management lands in Lake and Klamath counties. At Crater Lake, try the lesser-used Lost Creek Campground near the Pinnacles.

The Dixieland Haute Schatz band will perform in a free “end of summer concert” from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at Rocky Point Resort.

The Hildebrand Threshing Bee is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Bodnar’s Ranch in Dairy, 22 miles east of Klamath Falls. Go east on Highway 140 to milepost 22, turn left on Bliss Road at the Yonna Valley Store, turn left at the next intersection and go to Hildebrand Road. Follow the signs to the ranch.
