Keep the water
Published June 6, 2003
These are my opinions on COB and the Cogen power plant.
It is a point to consider that the proposed COB becomes a breeder facility for the state of California and elsewhere on the grid. In the meantime, the state of Oregon is encouraging this giveaway of our natural resources - water, land, and even freedom from industrial development in an exclusive farm use zone.
It is difficult for me to comprehend that a public agency would rob the farmers of necessary water to grow their crops to site a breeder electrical facility. This facility will be, of course, smack dab in the middle of farm land. Water is more important than exporting electricity.
This breeder facility is not compatible because of the noise and also the danger if something blows. We also may have a terrorist bomber hiding close (the al-Qaida leaders wanted to purchase a Bly ranch to establish a terrorist training camp, it has been alleged).
It seems the big shots, politicians, Oregon energy and many others want to build this breeder electrical plant, which will be against the public good and have no beneficial good except for the deep pockets that are promoting the idea.
I would like to trace the stockholders of this company and find out if the headquarters could be in Chicago or maybe Canada.
We already know PP&L is owned by Scottish Power. Why do we in America allow foreign entities to come to America and buy most anything (banks) and own the business lock, stock and barrel?
The recently built Cogen on the Klamath River apparently isn't making any money because it may be shut down for repairs or lack of customers. How do you like this when the Cogen was praised by the city to make a financial gain?
