Don't let them do it
published April 30, 2003
With all of the water problems involving the Klamath Basin and its vital needs for water, how can we let some company from Chicago believe that it can come in and take millions of gallons of water every day of the year to make power to send to Los Angeles?
Can we as landowners drill a well and take all the water we want? No, we cannot. Our local officials will tell us whether we can or not - we have no say in the matter.
As for our local politicians telling us of all the money these wonderful people from Chicago are bringing into the county - this is a fairy tale, baloney. There is no advantage but to a very few who hope to further their own interests by this. Let's not let it happen.
