Federal judge plans hearing on Basin irrigator lawsuit
published March 23, 2003
A federal judge plans a hearing April 29 in a case in which Klamath Basin irrigators seek compensation from the federal government for the water cutoff of 2001.
Since last July, Judge Dianne Sypolt has been deciding whether to stay the case until the adjudication of Basin water rights.
Sypolt is to hear all issues involved in the case, not just the government's request for a stay, according to Marzulla and Marzulla, the law firm who is representing the irrigators.
Roger Marzulla, one of the partners in the firm from Washington, D.C., visited Klamath Falls and met with his plaintiffs and others interested in the case on March 11.
